How Healthy is Your Soil?
Take the #SoilYourUndies challenge to find out!
For the first time, we're hosting a Soil Your Undies (SYU) campaign in partnership with Soil Conservation Council of Canada (SCCC). During National Soil Conservation Week from April 21- 27, we're challenging you to get in on the fun by participating and planting your very own pair of undies. We'll even supply the underwear and show you how!
On April 15 and 18 from 8 am – 5 pm, our team will be at Sunderland Co-op to talk about soil your undies and funding opportunities that will improve soil health on the farm.
Stop by to chat and pick up a pair of undies for the Soil Your Undies challenge.
How to #SoilYourUndies
Plant a pair of underwear
Participate by planting a pair of underwear. It's easy, just get a pair of NEW white 100% cotton briefs, a marker flag and a shovel and bury them. After two months, dig 'em up and see how much is left. You'll know your soil is healthy if only the waistband remains.
Share the message
Help us get the word out! Share information about the campaign and soil health on social media and tell your friends and family members about it and why it's important.

During the campaign, we'll post information on soil health and our funding programs that improve it. Be sure to follow along on social media using #SoilYourUndies and #LSRCA.
Funding for Soil Testing
Healthy soil plays a key role in reducing soil erosion, providing adequate nutrients for crops and transporting water to plants. That's why soil testing is an important part of crop production and nutrient management.
We can cover up to 50% of the costs for soil testing, up to $500 - $1,000 depending on the project. This testing will assess your soil, identify problem areas, and track changes in soil composition.
Ready to get your soil tested? Contact our Restoration Specialists at restoration@LSRCA.on.ca for more information or to get started. Find out more about funding to improve soil health.
