The Connect Campaign Celebrates Monumental Private Donation
Lake Simcoe Watershed – June 27, 2023 – The Lake Simcoe Conservation Foundation is thrilled to announce that the Connect Campaign, to build a new Nature Centre at Scanlon Creek Conservation Area, has received its largest private donation to date from Paul Sadlon. Mr. Sadlon's contribution of $850,000 is a resounding endorsement of our mission to foster environmental stewardship and create a sustainable future for our community.
Designed with a net-zero carbon footprint, the new Nature Centre will be home to the Lake Simcoe Region Conservation Authority's school-based education programs. It will also act as a community hub where residents of all ages and abilities will have opportunities to engage with nature and participate in programs that enlighten them about climate change and inspire them to take meaningful action. This state-of-the-art building will not only enhance efforts in environmental conservation but will also enable the Lake Simcoe Conservation Authority to meet the growing needs of the watershed community.

The new facility will be an incredible teaching tool for the Lake Simcoe Region Conservation Authority and will help inspire future environmental champions," said Cheryl Taylor, Executive Director, Lake Simcoe Conservation Foundation.
Thanks to Mr. Sadlon's support, the Connect Campaign has surpassed its ambitious fundraising goal of $3 million. Along with additional funding commitment from Infrastructure Canada's Green and Inclusive Community Building Program of $4.17 Million, the Scanlon Creek Nature Centre is quickly becoming a reality.

My car dealership in Barrie has served the community for decades and I see firsthand the incredible work that needs our collective support. The new Nature Centre will be a one-of-a-kind facility that is desperately needed to keep our kids healthy, engaged and inspired by nature. I am very proud to support it", says Paul Sadlon.
