In 2018 the Nokiidaa trail extension was officially opened! In that same year we transformed an empty field into a wonderful wetland and future forest area. The total restored land was approximately 2.3 hectares, 1 hectare of wetland and the rest was restored with native trees and shrubs. We also installed wood duck nesting boxes and constructed a boardwalk and viewing platform that is easily accessible form the Nokiidaa Trail, allowing visitors to truly enjoy the space!

To get the local community involved, several tree planting events were held since 2018 in the area surrounding the wetland. The community planting component completed the wetland project, and with the help of volunteers, over 1,700 native trees and shrubs planted to further enhance the project area.
