Manage Your Soil

Soil Testing and Nutrient Management Planning

50% of costs, up to $500 (stand alone) or $1,000 (with another project)

When was the last time you tested your soil? Improving soil performance requires different actions on each farm, making soil testing an important part of crop production and nutrient management. We can help you plan your nutrients to optimize crop yield and quality by covering 50% of the costs of soil testing. Soil testing will help you assess your soil, identify problem areas, and track changes in soil condition.

Cover Crops

100% of costs for seed, up to $2,000
Cover crops can boost your profits and prevent soil erosion. You’ll notice improved soil health within the first year of planting! Cover crops improve soil health by improving infiltration of excess surface water, relieving compaction of overtilled soil and adding organic matter to encourage beneficial soil microbial life. This improved soil health will increase your crop yields, with the added benefit of reduced soil erosion in the winter months.

Controlling Cropland Erosion

50% of costs, up to $5,000
How much of your soil is lost to erosion each year? Install a WASCoB, grassed waterway, terrace, drop structure or water and sediment control basin, and protect valuable soil resources from erosion.
