LSRCA Chair elected for second term at Annual General Meeting

Meeting showcases 2015 achievements and new five-year strategic plan

NEWMARKET – January 22, 2016 – Today Lake Simcoe Region Conservation Authority (LSRCA) held its Annual General Meeting (AGM) and elections for Chair and Vice Chair. Returning for a second term as Chair is Aurora Mayor Geoffrey Dawe.

"Receiving the continued support of my colleagues on the Board of Directors means a great deal to me," said Mayor Dawe. "This past year as Chair of LSRCA has been a highlight in my career and I'm thrilled to continue on in that role. I expect 2016 will be even more exciting as the Authority begins implementing our new five-year strategic plan."

Newly elected to the position of Vice Chair was Councillor Richard Simpson from the Town of Innisfil. "During my time with LSRCA, I have been impressed with how the Board and staff respond to issues and challenges and look forward to my expanded role." said Vice Chair Simpson.

This year also marks the beginning of a new chapter for LSRCA, with the launch of its new 2016-2020 Strategic Plan, 'Vision to Action, Action to Results'. It includes a new Vision and Mission… not a departure from the Authority's previous Vision and Mission – rather a renewal of that commitment.

Vision: We envision a thriving environment that inspires and sustains us for generations to come.

Mission:
Our mission is to work with our community to protect and restore the Lake Simcoe watershed by leading research, policy and action.

The Authority's 2015 Annual Report was also released at the AGM. It details highlights of the Authority's achievements over the past year. Besides the stand-out accomplishment of completing its Strategic Plan for 2016, the Annual Report details research findings, outreach efforts, and community-driven restoration projects.
