Buy a Potted Holiday Tree and Support Schoolyard Greening
Tuesday, November 29, 2011

Newmarket – The Lake Simcoe Region Conservation Authority (LSRCA) is piloting a holiday season live, potted tree program to help fund schoolyard greening activities at Keswick area public schools. The sale of the potted white spruce trees will support the activities of Keswick High School, Lake Simcoe Public School and will also fund LSRCA's tree planting activities along the Maskinonge River.
For $25, customers can purchase a live, potted tree that can be displayed through the holidays and then planted in the spring. The trees are approximately 3 feet tall and make a great table-top holiday tree or porch decoration. When planted, these white spruce trees, a native species, also make great wildlife habitat.
The trees are best if stored in a sheltered area outside for the winter months, and then planted in the spring. They can be brought inside for up to a week over the holidays.
Trees are $25 each and will be available from December 5 - 16 at the Lake Simcoe Region Conservation Authority office, located at 120 Bayview Parkway in Newmarket. Quantities are limited so customers wishing to purchase their trees through the LSRCA office should call ahead to reserve at 905-895-1281. Hours of operation are 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.
LSRCA will accept major credit cards, debit and cash payments. Trees may also be purchased through Keswick High School by calling 905-476-0933 ext. 445 and Lake Simcoe Public School at 905-656-5970.
