CONSERVATION AUTHORITY TO AWARD PRIZES TO COLOURING CONTEST WINNERS

Newmarket, Ontario – The Lake Simcoe Region Conservation Authority and Lake Simcoe Conservation Foundation will be holding a special event to present prizes to the winners of our Watershed Heroes Activity Book colouring contest held late last year. Almost 100 colouring contest submissions were received and will be on display starting at Noon on February 1 at the York Region office in Newmarket. The presentation of the awards for the best submission in three different categories will take place at 7pm.
Prizes are: an Ipod Nano, digital camera and bicycle. All children that entered the contest and come to the event will get a small gift.
The contest was held to celebrate the launch of our new Watershed Heroes activity book, a fun and interactive way for kids and their families to spend time together while learning about the watershed.
Councillor Virginia Hackson, Chair of the Lake Simcoe Region Conservation Authority, Gayle Wood, Chief Administrative Officer and Debby Beatty, President of the Lake Simcoe Conservation Foundation will be awarding these prizes. The event will include light refreshments, kids’ activities and the awards presentation.
