Ramara Residents to Share Their Concerns for Local Environmental Issues

NEWMARKET – January 14th, 2008 – The Lake Simcoe Region Conservation Authority (LSRCA) will be hosting “Ramara Cares” – a public open house where Ramara residents can share their concerns for their local environment. Local residents are encouraged to attend. Their input will guide the development of the LSRCA’s environmental stewardship plan for the area.

Ramara Cares will be held on Tuesday, January 27th from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Joyland Beach Community Centre located at 4303 McRae Park Rd, Ramara Township. The open house will feature presentations by representatives from the LSRCA on local wildlife habitat, creeks and streams, local fisheries and the unique landscape and ecology of Ramara.

“Developing a long-term environmental stewardship plan for Ramara will help guide our efforts to protect and restore our cherished natural resources,” said Phil Davies, Manager of Watershed Stewardship, LSRCA. “The open house is an opportunity for local residents to share their concerns and bring to light any opportunities for environmental protection or restoration.”

Residents are asked to RSVP by Monday, January 26th to: Joan Parsons, Lake Simcoe Region Conservation Authority Phone: 1-800-465-0437 ext. 250.
