Conservation Authority Election of Officers “Stability in a Time of Change”

NEWMARKET – February 11, 2009 – At its annual general meeting January 23rd, the Lake Simcoe Region Conservation Authority elected its officers for the year 2009.

East Gwillimbury Councillor Virginia Hackson was re-elected as chair, and Durham Regional Councillor (representing Scugog) Bobby Drew was re-elected as vice-chair. The administrative committee was also reinstated: Virgina Hackson and Bobbie Drew, Town of Bradford West Gwillimbury Councillor John McCallum, Durham Regional Councillor (representing Brock) John Grant, and Barrie citizen representative Eric Bull.

“This promises to be a year of dramatic change in our watershed,” said Virginia Hackson. “Lake Simcoe has become the focus of a great deal of attention locally, provincially and federally. Our goal in the watershed is to work toward an effective point of balance where all needs are met in a sustainable way. I am very pleased that the executive of the conservation authority is stable and so well positioned to provide the leadership we need during this time of change.”
