About Our Lake
What Will it Take?
Greatly increased funding is required for the restoration and protection efforts to compensate for years of inadequate support and to reduce the impact of upcoming development.
The science is telling us it will cost approximately $164 million to put satisfactory measures in place around the watershed just to accommodate the growth plans that have already been approved.
This means to keep the Lake at its current state of health, we have a lot of work to do. To start to improve the ecosystem and restore the cold-water fishery even more work is required.
Current investment in protection and restoration is slightly more than $1 million per year. This is grossly inadequate.
This gap must be filled to ensure a healthy Lake for the future!
The Lake Simcoe Foundation is working to fill this gap so that the Lake Simcoe Region Conservation Authority (LSRCA) and government can make progress on this critical clean-up.
