About Our Lake
Our Approach
At the Lake Simcoe Conservation Foundation (LSCF), we take a watershed-based approach to cleaning up our Lake. We believe that the water draining into Lake Simcoe needs to be cleaner in order to create a lasting impact on the Lake; a Lake-only focus will not work in the long-term. The land and rivers surrounding the Lake need to be healthy for the Lake to be healthy.
We must look beyond the shoreline
At LSCF, we also believe that we need to find solutions that are not one-offs, but that create a system that is self-sustaining, and that allows nature to do its work, and clean itself.
Our work alone will not fix the problem
We believe that the 35 rivers and streams draining into Lake Simcoe, and the land around these tributaries, must be actively cared for by all those along their shorelines--governments, businesses, farmers and homeowners.
What Is Needed To Restore The Watershed's Health?
